ESDU TECHNICAL MEMORANDUM: Estimating the reflection effects for the jet noise of under-wing engines
Abstract:
The jet noise from an engine installed under a wing is modified by several factors, one of which is by reflection from the wing undersurface. This installation effect is expressed as a difference in SPLs due to the presence of the wing.
Technical Memorandum TM 198 provides a method by which this installation effect can be estimated for both single and twin-jet configurations. A computer program, written in FORTRAN, is provided in both source and executable code versions. The program can also be used to generate contour plot data. A program, written in MATLAB, to plot contours from these data is provided.
